Meet the Irish Artists Heading to SXSW 2025

Gurriers: Known for their raw energy and post-punk sound, Gurriers bring a fierce intensity to their performances. They’ve already gained a strong following in Ireland, and have a Hot off the back of dropping
their debut : ‘Come And See’ Their Whelans headliner is now sold out. Theyre on a European tour. Dublin, Brussels and Copenhagen are now sold out.

John Francis Flynn: A unique voice in contemporary Irish folk, John Francis Flynn’s music combines traditional influences with innovative arrangements. Currently on his UK and Irish tour, Flynn draws from Dublin’s vibrant traditional arts scene, which he fondly describes as filled with “trad heads”—dancers, poets, and musicians who bring the city’s folk culture to life.

M(h)aol is an unapologetically bold Irish post-punk band combining fierce feminist messages, social justice, and their unmistakable sound into every track. Known for tackling issues like gender violence and animal welfare with raw honesty, M(h)aol has become a vital voice for radical change in today’s Irish music scene. Described as “searing and pertinent” by The Quietus and as bringing “authentic, vital radicalism” to post-punk by London in Stereo, M(h)aol challenges sociocultural labels and sparks meaningful dialogue through music.

Really Good Time: Blending indie rock with a punk edge, Really Good Time is a band that lives up to its name. Formed from a simple desire to “get drunk and play late shows,” as mentioned in Rolling Sones UK, Really Good Time has evolved with an electrifying live presence and a self-proclaimed goal to be “the greatest band on Earth.” Their latest single, “Retreat to the Cubicle,” is an infectious anthem backed by a video channeling the playful absurdity of 90s MTV, featuring the band in gold jumpsuits as they tackle a suburban carwash. Really Good Time is quickly becoming an unmissable act, gaining international recognition with their cheeky and playful yet heartfelt take on modern punk rock.

Soda Blonde: Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, this alt-pop band released their second album Dream Big in September 2023 to critical acclaim, with the Irish Independent naming it the top Irish album of the year. Their 2024 journey has been remarkable, kicking off with their first sold-out European tour in January, a milestone that highlights their expanding international fanbase and appeal.
